Forbes named Botswana technology entrepreneur, Rapelang Rabana, on its list of “30 under 30 Best Young African Entrepreneurs” and “20 Young Power Women in Africa”.

If you want one of my tips for a woman entrepreneur who is going to be one of the wealthiest women in the world one day, it is Rapelang Rabana, born in Botswana and living in South Africa......For those of you who prefer spiritual language, call it my prophecy!

On her way to being a billionaire she will probably be one of the people who solve the problem of the education and skills deficit on the continent through powerful learning technologies.



 She was featured on Forbes Africa cover before she was 30. As a World Economic Forum (WEF) “global shaper”, in 2012 she shared a Davos WEF panel with Founder Klaus Schwab and Grameen Bank founder and Nobel Peace Prize winner, Mohammed Yunus. CNN.com called her one of Africa’s Marissa Mayers (Yahoo’s CEO).

Rapelang Rabana is a "tech entrepreneur", who builds software tools that solve every day problems. As she herself explained in one of her interviews:"The most powerful ideas come from solving your own problems. And that’s how you’re able to sustain a company because it’s solving something that’s real to you; and, most likely, if it’s real to you, it’s real to many other people around the world.”

Like Juliana Rotich of Kenya, Rapelang Rabana seamlessly develops businesses that make her both a Social as well as a Business entrepreneur. Her latest business venture which is making waves in the tech world is a business called REKINDLE LEARNING (http://www.rekindlelearning.com/), which provides learning and performance support tools that improve the efficiency with which we learn, and reduce time to competency thereby ensuring higher productivity at work and at school, and ultimately enabling young people to be more employable.

Rapelang believes that “Africa must leapfrog the education and skills gap if it is to emerge as a global leader and this is where technology is critical in shifting our paradigm of thought. We can’t just be trying to catch up with the development world – we must use technology to develop new ways to build functional competence in shorter time. ”

You don't have to be in Silicon Valley to build a global tech company. Some of the most exciting tech companies in the world are already being developed in bedrooms, and garages right across Africa, even as I speak. And as you can see many of them are women or better still__#AfricanLionessRoar.
